Applying for an Australian visa just got a whole lot simpler! The Australian government has launched the Australian Immi App, a game-changer for visa applicants worldwide. This app allows you to submit crucial information directly from your phone, streamlining the entire process.
On Tuesday, the Australian government made an exciting announcement: visa applicants can now use the Australian Immi App to submit their passport and biometric data. This innovative approach simplifies the application process, making it more accessible.
Tim Kane, the Australian High Commissioner to Pakistan, shared the news on X (formerly Twitter), highlighting how much easier applying for an Australian visa from Pakistan has become. He also included a link to the Australian Department of Home Affairs website.
But what exactly does this app do? The Immi App, available for both Android and iOS devices, allows eligible applicants to provide their passport details and a facial image.
To use the app, you'll need a few things. First, you must have a 'Requirement to provide personal identifiers (biometrics) letter' with a Visa Lodgement Number (VLN) starting with AUI or AUH. You'll also need a valid passport.
And this is the part most people miss... Your mobile device needs location access and near-field communication (NFC) enabled. You'll also need to grant the Immi App permission to use your phone's camera.
The website provides a simple, five-step guide to help you through the biometric identity check.
Once you've completed the process, the Australian Immi App will securely send your passport details and facial images to the Department of Home Affairs. Unless there's an error, your account should be updated within 24 hours.
This is a significant step towards a more digital and efficient visa application process. What are your thoughts on this new app? Do you think it will make the process easier? Share your opinions in the comments below!
