Geordie Campbell is pushing the boundaries of fashion, blending the unexpected with a deeply personal touch for his latest collection! You might think '80s proportions, boxing, and ballet are an odd mix, but Campbell proves they can create something truly captivating.
Campbell's brand is all about exploring the fascinating space where femininity and masculinity meet, and how we find our own place within that spectrum. His newest collection, aptly named "Rough Pointe," perfectly embodies this philosophy. Imagine delicate pointelle tops adorned with charming ditsy florals, ethereal tulle tutus, and luxurious dupion silk boxer shorts, all juxtaposed with robust denim button-ups and intricately laser-etched jeans. It's a delightful dance between strength and softness.
But here's where it gets personal... The initial spark for this collection came from a rewatch of the heartwarming film "Billy Elliot," a story about a young boy who defies expectations to pursue ballet over boxing. However, Campbell's inspiration ran even deeper, drawing from his own childhood memories. He shared, "When I was younger, my school had a ballet extracurricular activity, and I really wanted to do it. My parents never let me, but I would watch the other kids go into their ballet lessons wearing these tutus and knit tops that crossed over in the middle and tied at the side, which were just so cute."
This nostalgic vision is beautifully translated into the collection with knit wrap tops and trousers featuring delicate tulle frill detailing. And for a touch of contemporary flair, a T-shirt emblazoned with "Glory Boy" offers a fresh twist on the brand's popular "British Boy" slogan tees, complete with their signature asterisk logo.
And this is the part most people miss... Campbell's direct-to-consumer business is thriving, which is why he strategically decided to focus on expanding his wholesale presence this season. Responding to valuable feedback from buyers last season, he embraced a more commercial mindset and designed an impressive 52 garments – his largest collection to date!
The collection has officially launched with a stunning look book, artfully styled by Alex Kessler, the deputy editor of i-D magazine. Geordie Campbell will be presenting this exciting new range to buyers in a dedicated showroom during Paris's June menswear fashion week.
