Four Collegiate Golfers from Oregon and Oregon State Set to Compete at Augusta National
Four talented golfers from Oregon and Oregon State are gearing up for a prestigious amateur tournament, the Augusta National Women's Amateur. This year's edition, taking place from April 1-4 in Augusta, Georgia, features a highly competitive field, including the top 20 players in the current World Amateur Golf rankings and 48 of the top 50.
Among the participants are three Oregon Ducks and one Oregon State Beaver. The lineup includes Kiara Romero, Karen Tsuru, and Prim Prachnakorn from Oregon, and Kyra Ly from Oregon State. These golfers are making their mark in the sport, with Romero leading the way as the No. 1 women's amateur in the world and the only two-time, first-team All-American in Oregon women's golf history. She previously competed in the event at Augusta last year, tying for seventh.
Romero's impressive rankings and achievements are further emphasized by the presence of her teammates, Prachnakorn (No. 30) and Tsuru (No. 40), in the World Amateur Golf Rankings. The tournament's first and second rounds will be broadcast live on the Golf Channel from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. ET on April 1 and 2. Following a practice round on April 3, NBC Sports will air the final round from 12-3 p.m. ET on April 4.
This tournament not only showcases the exceptional talent of these golfers but also highlights the strong representation of Oregon and Oregon State in women's golf. As the competition unfolds, fans can expect thrilling moments and the opportunity to witness the rise of these young athletes on the national stage.
