The source, who is not one of the fired employees and is not part of the union, says these messages were sent just a few weeks ago on the union's Discord server.
The Discord server, which has been active since 2022, consisted of various Rockstar employees. According to the source, there were no confidential game details shared. However, the server discussed the company's recent policy changes regarding its Slack platform, with one user expressing concern about the impact on morale.
It's alleged that Rockstar sent out an email about these policy revisions after 5 PM, when employees were not allowed to check their work emails. This email, along with another about guidelines and conduct, was shared on Discord by those still in the office to inform their colleagues.
"This led to one member of the Discord approaching studio management to express concerns about the discussions taking place," the report states. It's believed that this triggered an investigation by Rockstar into the Discord server, which aligns with the timing of the firings.
The report claims that Rockstar likely accessed the union Discord server and identified individuals who were not adhering to company policies. These individuals were then fired, allegedly for leaking information and potentially damaging the company's productivity.
